Plux Quba was handed around between \r\n\r\nthe principles of the early 90s A-Musik scene: Jan St. Werner, \r\n\r\nC-Schulz, Frank Dommert, Georg Odijk, plus interested fellow \r\n\r\ntravelers like Jim ORourke, to the intense curiosity of all. To ears \r\n\r\nthat were already saturated with all things kraut, the dark corners \r\n\r\nof prog and the frontline of experimental and improvised music, it \r\n\r\nproved elusive. Not simply in how it sounded and how that sound \r\n\r\nwas achieved, but in where it was coming fromlike later Rob-\r\nert Ashley at times; certain stretches of melody recalled some \r\n\r\nof Enos ambient pieces  but mostly, it was a completely alien \r\n\r\nsoundscape! And who was it? Was the band called Plux Quba? \r\n\r\nThe record? The label? These sorts of mysteries are at the heart \r\n\r\nof records that require close listening and re-listening. As it was \r\n\r\nabsorbed, it grew to be an influence on the Kˆln soundMouse \r\n\r\nOn Mars, Lithops, and Heemanns many and varied projects\r\n\r\nas well as ORourke, Fennesz and many others. Music and \r\n\r\nsound of this nature have for many years been made available by \r\n\r\nbands like Autechre, labels like Mille Plateauxbut for the first \r\n\r\nten years of its existence, Plux Quba was rarely heard. \r\n\r\nORourke reissued it as the first record on his Moikai label in \r\n\r\n1998, and it had a good run through around 2005 before the last \r\n\r\nof the print parts were filled. Its almost a decade since Plux Quba\r\n\r\nwas available, which is way too long considering that we live in \r\n\r\nan era where it is NECESSARY to have an LP of this on hand for \r\n\r\nyour contemporary listening distractions.
