Produced by Burnett himself alongside Bob Neuwirth, the album is often regarded by critics as a return to his songwriting roots, melding stark acoustic moments with more daring, off‑kilter rock textures. The album earned industry recognition as it was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Contemporary Folk Album.
